Retained Life Estate Agreement

Get prepared to establish a retained life estate with your donors.

The maintenance, insurance, and taxes (ā€œMITā€) agreement defines the responsibilities of the donor of the life tenant. The donor is expected to maintain the property in its current condition. Since they reside in the property, the donor must also maintain insurance and pay the real estate taxes. Although the donor must maintain insurance, some charities take the additional precaution of adding properties to their master insurance lists.
