The method of distributing estate assets that are similar to per stirpes, but with one difference. Instead of starting to equally divide amongst children (or the first generational tier), this method begins to evenly divide with the first generational tier where there is a living member. The difference is only if all the children (first generational tier) of a decedent have predeceased the decedent, and there are grandchildren (second generational tier) born of multiple children.
