A gift in a will or trust. Gifts are mostly specific (e.g., a particular item or cash gift) or residuary (e.g., a percentage share of what is left after all other gifts have been made). A testator makes a bequest to a specific person, organization, or a class of people (e.g., children, grandchildren.)
